He was emaciated and very heavily flea and worm infested. His skin was sore and very scabby and his fur was matted, dirty, and he’d been generally, very neglected. Of course, he was undoctored so no doubt he’d had many fights but could no longer defend himself nor carry on in his condition.

Dandy when he was first rescued.

After seeing our vet at Pet Doctors, where he was thoroughly examined, he was treated for fleas, worms, sore skin and generally cleaned and made comfortable.

Jane and Colin, our foster carers, kindly volunteered to care and rehabilitate him. They spent many weeks looking after ‘Dandy’ and bringing him back to a much healthier condition. Of course, during this time, he was neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested negative for feline leukaemia and feline AIDS.

At this point, he came over to Nikki Hazelgrove, director of Feline Welfare, ready to start looking for a new life in a loving home. ‘Dandy’ didn’t have to wait long to catch someone’s eye.
